2010 is in our Crosshairs!!!!

Updated March 9th 2010

March 2010

TotalCyclist athletes are already hotfooting results!

Coach Thad Dulin yanked a podium AGAIN in the Pro/Am in Greenville, SC on the hilly course.

Rick Pyle got 4th overall in the Charlotte Short Track MTB race series in the ELITES!

Coach Dan Shelby has been setting PR"s in 5k's and securing podium in just about every running event this year!

Tom Fenig finished 2nd in the Masters 45+ in Albany, GA!

Trey  Miller bridged across to the winning move in the Pro 1/2 in Greenville, SC. His 5th race as a Cat 2 and Trey snags a 5th. He also notched an 11th place the day before.

SPencer Gaddy is really getting the pro deal racing in the Dominican Republic and netting a to 30 in GC!~

Aldo Ilesic romps the front of the peloton helping Team Type 1 garner 3 wins in 4 chances at the Greenville Training Series.

Tom Fenig pulled off a Top 5 in masters 45 plus racing.

Bob Sisson showed a solid finish, comfortably nestled in the pack, in last Sunday's Donaldson Center RR, proving that he's on track to have a great year!

Don Panarisi acted as his team's Super-Domestique in the Marx & Bensdorf "Long Road Training Race" in Arlington, TN last Sunday.  After a lackadaisical first lap, Don helped to shred the field by setting a blistering pace on the front.  He chased down nearly every breakaway save for that of his teammate, and eventual race winner, Dale Sanford.  Don proved his legs, worked hard for his team, and still finished top 15!  This is going to be a fast year for the man from Tennesee!

TEAM TYPE 2 a HUGE Success!

Here is letter from Team Type 1/2 founder and racer Phil Southerland!

Chad,

I would like to extend a big Thank You to Tim, You, and Total Cyclist for the services provided to Team Type 2.  The coaching, knowledge, and guidance that Tim provided to 8 guys who had recently got into cycling was fantastic.

I got rave reviews about Tim from all 8 riders before the start of RAAM, which I thought was great.  As they say, "the proof is in the pudding," and when those 8 crossed the finish line 7 days, 7hours, and 23 minutes later, Tim's ability to coach, guide, and lead were all proven beyond any question.

I have had more and more people come to me saying "I thought they would fail, never thought they could do it, surprised they lived, was positive they wouldn't make it past the mountains."

But they proved them wrong, by putting the work in to achieve the goal of finishing.  What Tim did was remarkable, and I would now (more than ever) recommend both he and Total Cyclist to anyone looking to achieve a goal on the bike.

Thank you so much for the great work, and a HUGE thanks from millions with type 2 to Tim, as he helped to create 8 hero's in a world where they don't exist.

Have a great day.

Phil

    Work:          4380 kJ
    TSS:           547.1 (intensity factor 0.855)
    Norm Power:    184
    VI:            1.13
    Pw:HR:          12.41%

Coach Boyd Johnson had one of his strongest finishes of the season with a big 2nd place at the Downtown Greenville Cycling Classic. Great team work and a close finish had Coach Boyd just missing the top spot.

Dan Alion overcame two mechanical issues to win the October 4th TreeShaker MTB race "6 hour Solo Male" class. Twenty minutes into the race the front derailleur collided with the big chain ring, and Dan had to finish the remaining 30 minutes of the first lap in the small ring. At the end of the first lap, Dan reset the derailleur and got back underway (with first and second gear rubbing the rest of the race). On the 6th (of 7) laps, a spoke broke on the rear wheel. A quick trailside repair (folding the loose spoke around good spoke), and Dan was back underway again...with crossed fingers.

The bike held up (and so did Dan) to finish about 6 minutes ahead of second place.

The photo of me (and my pit crew) are just before the race.

Dan Alion continues to ride strong as he held on to 4th place in the grueling Rivers Edge MTB 50-mile Marathon, Men's 40-49 category (field of 25 racers).  Oddly enough, the three who beat him were 40, 41, & 42 years old respectively, and Dan's 48.  He was also 8th fastest solo rider out there (out of 65 riders) - including the Pro/Open groups!

The following weekend, Dan made up for what he felt was a weak performance by nailing down 2nd in the Charlotte Summer MTB Series race at USNWC!
